People often conflate universally-beneficial methods and ideas, such as meditation or loving thy neighbor, with the traditions in which they are taught. This is like if someone couldn’t discern the difference between tea and the cup in which it’s served. In that case, we might turn down some delicious tea based solely on its container, and miss out on something that could really benefit us! But on the flip side, can we just dump any tea into any cup we want?
